Ain’t nothing like tooling down the
freeway hitting expansion joints and loosing your fillings because of old tires
- - - with (sob) lots of tread left. One thing I tried with an ancient set of
205/70 14 XWX’s with half the tread left was going to a BIG parking lot
and scuttling about trying to spin out and just having a glorious time on old
time tires. Well, before I got kicked out – imagine my disappointment
when all I would do is skate of the asphalt twirling about and NOT scrubbing
any tire off. No long black streaks – just some lines where I
cleaned the asphalt. Bowling balls – apt description for
the consistency of old rubber. One for sure – it taught me that if’n
I’d REALLY needed to make a sudden vector change – I woulda made ol’
Gabriel laugh. Got 16” rims and some decent rubber –
come to think of it – I got that decent rubber a Loooooohg time
ago. Drat. There goes my 18 y/o Mac budget again. Alas DOUG From: Rick Lindsay
