Ah HAH – a great tid bit.  Thanks Grahame.

Yesh – you were visited by two of the electrical problem evil triplet sisters – Ms Opens and Ms Grounds.  It is questionable if the third sister also visited – Ms Shorts but maybe.

I will put your post in my binder, along with the one from Tony Cottier and the ball bearing for the light stalk detents.  Up to his fix – (2 minutes if you know what to do) saved me months of evening agony – even up to the point I stopped driving our GTS at night.

Onward and cheers

DOUG

Well, changing the relays, checking all the fuses and cleaning up all those connections did not fix the problem, but now I have a few spare relays! ;-) I was getting quite confused with what was going on, because it seemed somewhat random and did not seem to exactly fit with what I have read in the FChat archives and so on.

Anyway, frustrated, I popped in to see Russ (a great Ferrari technician) who in less than a minute had isolated the likely problem. As we twisted the light switch at the end of the stalk through its normal 90 degrees, connection was being made and then lost, with lights popping up then down.

Five minutes later, with the switch pulled apart, we could see the problem - a little green earth wire had broken loose so that it was only making passing connection as the switch was twisted. So, a bit of solder, a little bit of a clean-up of connections while in there and it all works perfectly now. Success!!

Cheers,

Grahame
