Hi gang -
Thanks to all who responded - I ended up downloading it as a torrent and burned it to a DVD this AM - will watch it today....   I've seen some other Senna biography's and as Doug said, he started in Karts - it was interesting to see him working on his own karts and to hear him talk about being terrible in the rain the 1st time he raced (in karts) in the wet - he could not keep up and finished last after spinning off time after time while the others pulled away.   In what became his signature determination he began to drive karts everytime it rained -- for month after month until he knew exactly how to drive in wet weather.   I loved to watch his ability to control a F1 car in the rain - of course, any of the top drivers are at a level hard for "normal" people to comprehend - being able to correct wheelspin or oversteer at 150+ mph in the dry and in the rain is something I am always surprised to see - but to see Senna do it was masterful.    I have studied driving since my teens and know what it feels like to correct when going 40 -60mph (I've never done any track time) but it's enough to appreciate how incredibly talented the top tier drivers are -- and to see Senna and some others who were near his level of expertise made me smile every time.

Lauda & Ickx were others of those I always tried to see when there was wet weather involved...   Rainmeisters...

Thanks again for your thoughts - appreciated and enjoyed them...

There’s still no evidence that the steering broke. Newey says he thinks the rear right had a puncture. Just another opinion.

I believe that the microscopic analysis of the steering wheel crack has revealed a "stress crack" and not a impact crack. The metal shows different patterns for one or the other. I would also note that the available video shows that he does try to steer but is unable to do so.
Even with a rear puncture I would guess he could do some steering under braking (due to the weight transfer to the front)

Another theory says that he was running tyre pressures a bit too high because the car kept bottoming-up (and you can see that from Schumacher's car running right behind him) and that he might have lost contact with the ground, leaving him with no steering.

I have a magazine somewhere with the official report. I'll try to dig it out. I love forensic analysis :-)
