I've lived in the UK for 16 years and can spot an American a mile away now.
(I'm a Floridian by birth)Generally they are dressed all the same. If you want
to avoid looking like an American drop the ball cap, polo shirts, Dockers,
sneakers, and what I call the "JC Penny look". Yes it is easy to be considered a
"Canadian" if your accent isn't to strong.... Say "eh" many times and it works
better.
Personally I think wearing a ball cap everywhere is the easiest way
to look like an American tourist or traveller, they stand out from a
mile away.....
