All you need to do is

1.  Not wear a blue blazer and khaki pants, and

2.  Tell everyone that you're Canadian. Almost everyone likes Canadians and not many can distinguish between a Canadian accent and an American one.  It helps your story if you can at least name more than three cities and provinces.
