Clyde asked do we need assault rifles? I ask, do we need 100 plus mph cars? In 
the hands of a responsible person, it isn't a problem. Either in the hands of a 
madman are dangerous. As for the Neanderthal redneck comment, oh well. We will 
just agree to disagree. The problem with guns is pandoras box is open. No 
different then drugs. They are illegal, but can be found everywhere. Guns are 
illegal in Mexico, we know how that's working out. Are we saying you should be 
able to own any weapon you choose. No. Society as a mass will make that 
decision. I see no need for a thirty round clip. But a semiautomatic rifle is a 
semiautomatic rifle no matter if it is brown or black with a military look. 
Shoots just the same. I think the problem is deeper then guns. All, are darn 
near all of the crazed shooters of late were mentally ill and on anti 
depression medication. I'm not saying the meds are to blame either. I'm just 
saying the problem is more complicated then a black gun. I will say this 
though, if his mom knew he was mentally ill, the guns should be locked away.
