I agree with Barry. The gun control that should have been exercised was by the killer's mom. As reported, she knew that there was "something off" with her son but didn't take adequate precautions to insure that he didn't have access to her firearms. She and 26 innocents paid the price for her negligence.

If anything good comes out of this tragedy it will be increased awareness of the importance of keeping firearms out of the hands of potential sociopaths.

saying the problem is morecomplicated then a black gun. I will say t
  his though, if his mom knew he was mentally ill, the guns should be locked 
away. Whew, my 2cents from a list lurker. Barry
