Re: LAFERRARI - What's in a name?

Considering that Glickenhaus was adamant that he be the 100% owner of P4/5's design (since he paid for 100% of Pininfarina's effort, Ferrari just slapped a badge on it when they were done), I'd say someone owes him a recurring royalty check....

This new LaFerrari takes a LOT of design cues from James Glickenhaus's specially commissioned P4/5 ...

I think when they named a car the "FF" we have to take it as a sign they've run out of names.

To me, the F70 looks like the "futuristic" sports car toy I had in the 70's, pushing around the floor, going "brrm, brrmm, eeeee" (even then, I tended to go hot in and oversteer out of the turns ... old habits die hard) and the F40 still looks to my eyes like the epitome of a Ferrari.  I'm not blind to the aging performance or the flaws in its design details, but still, car for car, money no object, no points for Nurburgring times, I'd still take an F40.

I feel like if I died of a heart attack driving an F40, they'd bury with the epitaph "doing what he loved" but if I died of boredom behind the wheels of these hyper hybrids, they'd say "he knew the risks."

Actually, âlaâ is also used in Italian as the article âtheâ, so here it is âTheFerrariâ. But I can think of at least 4 problems with the name. 1) Like the names âFerrari Modenaâ or âFerrari Italiaâ or âFerrari Mondialâ, etcetera, is it a âFerrari LaFerrariâ?  2) If this is THE Ferrari, what do you call the next one? 3) LaFerrari just sounds kind of silly to me (like â Laugher-rari). 4) If this is THE Ferrari, what does this say about all the predecessors?  Have they been relegated to obsolete and irrelevant junk?  I feel a bit offended!!  ;-)

Cheers,

I truly like the new Ferrari. But I am really really disappointed  of the name. I've never ever questioned the names Ferrari gave to their cars. But this one is ridiculous.

Can you imagine DASBMW ? DASMERCEDES ? And any other car company giving a new car its own name!!!!

What were they thinking ?

Why don't we start to rename it ? Any suggestions ?
