Screwy timing can cause this too - but what it has to do with an air cleaner is beyond me. But then again - it's a Ferrari. Something loose? Quirky thing is; It will idle down if 'pulled' down by waiting until around 1200rpm before depressing the clutch, when rolling to a stop. It slowly drops between gear shifts even with the throttle fully released; Say at about 1000rpm/second and hangs at 2200rpm or so. --- On Sat, 3/9/13, Stephen Sherman <stephensherman44 [at] gmail.com> wrote: If it not Italian Cruise Control (floor mat intefers with throttle) I have not a clue since it returns to idle with the air cleaner. I am not familar with carb 308's. Is it possible the linkage is being intefered with with air cleaner installed? It does just fine with it off. The behavior is just like a vacuum leak - which is what I assumed and just replaced the heat insulators with new, as they have integral gaskets. Problem is still there. That said, the car is quite drivable and runs like a scalded dog, but the 'return to idle' is slow and often never makes it all the way down to 1000rpm.
