BTW, is Ferrari still offering manuals? If so, how much longer will they? I am always getting dinged for longing for the past, I suspect there will be others joining me... ;-)

Great write up BTW - as the owner of a '78 240d (330K and still counting) and a '91 300D (230K and like new). So over 1/2 million miles between 2 cars which is not all that unique. I suspect they'll rust away before the mechanicals get so bad it no longer makes sense...

I cannot agree more with the simple is better philosophy. I wouldn't consider a newer MB because of their quality problems but if I did it would have to be a diesel because of your simple comment.
