Yes that is exactly what you do

Pretend you have a similar model

Shop it at several dealers 

This will give you a reasonable expectation on the true value of the car you want to buy 

Always under bid by 10 to 25 %

Go as if you are buying drugs !

Does that mean you pretend to have THE car you wish to buy and ask the dealership for a trade in price?

 

Flash back to 1979âs.  I knew a guy who was kicking tires about buying a used domestic car from a dealership he knew who allowed him to drive the around a bit.  He took it to another Chevy dealership and asked how much theyâd give him on it.  Surprise surprise â best PPI ever and for free.  This was some time ago why before computers tracked VIN repairs.

 

I forget the outcome â hell, it coulda been a story but it was entertaining.
