Maserati is being repositioned downward to compete more with BMW/Audi/Mercedes.  Goal is to move 50k units by 2015, the SUV will be the volume car.

Not sure. I know they're no longer owned by Ferrari and I believe the engineering is separate now.

I can't share the proprietary data, but the real competitors in this segment are Bentley, Lamborghini, Aston Martin (who is fighting to legally sell cars in the USA right now), and Rolls Royce.  You can debate if the high end low volume models from Porsche, Audi, Mercedes count, but that's a bar discussion.

Sergio is right, profitability is not everything, you have to look at market share, too.
