Re: fuel gauge on 308

Before I had the gauge inside the tank changed (2013), my dashboard fuel gauge would go up at FULL everytime I filled it up. But after maybe less than 75 miles it would go down to zero very quickly. Since that part above the left tank is all new, I doubt the problem is there. Come to think of it, I didn't even bother to check the connections that are easily visible above the tank. I'll do that next time. In the meantime, my tank is full and I'll be driving a lot next weekend just to see what the dashboard fuel gauge does.

I'll keep you posted!

The 308 fuel 'SENDER' commonly goes bad, requiring an easy replace.
A faulty gauge is quite rare.
HOWEVER
There is always the greater possibility of a bad ground at the sender (top
off left tank)
See attached diagram. The usual 'bad sensor' symptoms are that the gauge
works fine
above a full tank then suddenly goes to empty, due to a broken rheostat wire
part way
down the sensor. (The float arm moves up/down the rheostat).
A bad ground will produce low readings at ALL tank levels.
