That piece of information did come out relatively early in the investigation.

I believe the thought process was that the way the camera was attached to the 
helmet may have concentrated forces unnaturally at the mounting point. What 
might have otherwise been distributed over a greater surface area on the helmet 
was instead concentrated on a relatively small patch through the mount.

Obviously nothing at fault on GoPro's part unless they endorsed the particular 
attachment method that Schumacher was using. GoPro has a bunch of possible 
methods (screws, double-sided tape, Velcro, elastic straps) for attaching their 
hardware. Never saw a detail on which Schumacher had used.

Heard on FastMoney that MS's son is claiming that a GoPro attached to 
Schumacher's ski helmet contributed to/caused his brain injury.
No further word about his recovery.
