I dont like the rule either but it assumes that a new engine has less mileage on it less wear. I'm not sure what it is but there's a limit on how many engines the teams can use during the season and if they go over that there is even another penalty. Two teams now forced out over cost it seems to me that all these rules To save money for some the richest people on earth make no sense. I like others on the list like to see formula One with the least amount of rules necessary to stimulate The maximum amount of research and technology. That just my opinion Robert W. If the engine is illegal it would be found during post race inspection & if the engine they earned the starting spot with can be confirmed legal as well. Seems like starting from the pits is just another one of the Mickey Mouse rules which serve no purpose - unless I'm missing something?
