I have to second Rick on Helms' Hoses. I had their (Dave AND Kris) hoses on my Mondial t.

FWIW when I had a 355, I had a fuel leak that nearly cost me the car, and possibly my life. There is a fuel block at the front of the engine where hoses from the fuel pump are distributed to each injector rail. There is a retaining plate that holds the hoses in. One nut, originally a plain, ordinary nut. Not Nyloc, not with threadlock. As smooth as a 355 V8 is, vibration eventually takes its toll. I guess I was lucky the engine was cold when the leak appeared. If it had been warm, I dare say the exhaust heat would have changed the outcome. Hot fuel vapor ignites so much easier than cold gasoline liquid. Sparks in the radiator fan motors anyone?

I later 'acquired' a 355 engine that had come from a burnt out car. Guess what.... the same issue resulted in a fuel leak that ended up spraying fuel into the cabin of a spider, where the occupant was smoking. After a BIG lawsuit, Ferrari issued a recall on this particular problem.

So even the best Aeroquip hoses are useless if they are not retained properly. Don't be cheap, and don't forget to think about ALL components of a fuel system.

I'll get off my soapbox now...

Hoses:  Fuel or otherwise.

If you want cheap, get-you-by, go to your local parts place.

But if you are serious about doing any of your hoses there is only one place/person for Ferrari hoses today:   Dave Helms - Scuderia Rampante

Dave is one of us and has researched this relentlessly.  He is having custom hoses made precisely for each application.  You can buy cheaper - hell, you can even pay more, but you will not find a better hose or a better fitting hose for any part of your Ferrari than those being offered by Dave Helms.  Period.   Strong statement... I know.   But I've been there and have seen what he is doing.  I stand by that statement.

Rick

>Carburetted systems operate at 2-3psi but are 'open' systems. That is, float bowls are vented. Fuel injected systems are closed systems, eliminating the flooded float chamber problem, BUT they operate at really high pressure! That brings another set of potential problems. Any way one looks at it, fuel is dangerous.
