No, but there is an engine cover between the engine and 'trunk' area.

Agreed. The Europas came with Renault power of the wonderful Lotus-Ford TwinCam. The later is basically a Ford Pinto block with a free breathing DOHC head.

For sure. Just haven't gotten that far. In fact, I still need to rebuild the ignition, including new primary and secondary wiring. All the connectors are corroded and/or weak.
