Testarossa starter

Starter update: I replaced the corroded connectors at the starter and it started right up. Shut it down and replaced the air cleaner assembly. Test drive time. Turn the key, fuel pump starts then stops, as it should do, then turn the key to start. Nothing. And Matt isn't even here to go hit the starter! Wait! The sticker said not to do that.

So the problem is up stream of the starter. When it connects it spins at full power. When it doesn't, nothing. And that is exactly what one would expect from a failing relay. No half-way sluggish try. Charles says, perhaps $#!++y connectors at the fuse/relay panel. That's where I'm going next.

Anyway, after another couple of turns of the key, it started right up. Idle searched for perhaps a half second then rock stable. I went for a test drive, forgetting that I had intended to set the tire pressures first. Still, the test drive went well. The car is strong and smooth. A very nice big hipped redhead - with a little attitude when first awakened.

More after checking and cleaning the fuse/relay panel.
