Lotus 7s however make for a terrific small bore vintage race car. Even lighter and more stripped down than a Turner. 

Find one with a Coventry Climax engine and have many miles and smiles on the vintage racing circuit for not big money at all.

Haha, damn government. Always having to protect people from themselves. We're allowing people to survive in car accidents that are pretty severe and mostly THEIR FAULT. :)

That's why I love the Caterham 7s. 1000-1200 lbs, no power steering, no airbag, just you and the car.

Interestingly enough for all of the self professed super enthusiasts out there, I've never seen one on the road or even a forum. I guess some view it as a 30-70k motorcycle toy, without the panache of the typical brand names.

Ego trumps pleasure in most. :)

Maybe you should seek out an Ariel Atom or KTM X-Bow or a modernized Lotus 7. I think that’s as close as you’ll ever get to the simplicity level you want. Now if we could just get Pininfarina to skin one of those… J

Hello Friends,

 

New Ferraris are kinda like new Lambos. They look like SciFi spaceships and they have more technology than an iPhone! That's fine for the people who must have the most outlandish cars. But what about most of us?

 

What if Ferrari developed a simpler car? Still powerful, still great handling and still reeking of Pininfarina, but simple. No, not a 'starter Ferrari' or an economy model. Just a cheaper, simple car reflecting back on earlier designs.

 

Hummm...
