A decent (builtin) tender has kept the crappy Interstate working for more than 10 years.  Forget the battery ..  Although the tender adds a few pounds!

Agree with SJ on selecting the proper tender but I have reverted back to just disconnecting the batteries for long term storage.

I am switching to a 1.5 lbs (yes, one point five) battery for my motorcycle.

Anything by East Penn Manuf (they make Deka) is quality.

Get an AGM then make sure your charger has the higher voltage AGM mode. Like a CTEK:

I heard that Optima quality is not what it used to be.  A friend recommended NAPA -- supposedly made by Deka east of the Mississippi (where I am) and Allied Signal to the west, but I haven't even checked whether they make on in my size (whatever that may be).
