Agreed...my vote is lightweight racing battery (Braile, Shorai, etc.) with proper care (tender or disconnect) *OR* a cheap Walmart special with the same care.
Interstates, Optimas, etc. all have bad reputations today.
Batteries are consumables, so they need to be really cheap or really light to make any sense these days.

I heard that Optima quality is not what it used to be. A friend recommended NAPA -- supposedly made by Deka east of the Mississippi (where I am) and Allied Signal to the west, but I haven't even checked whether they make on in my size (whatever that may be).
