The Rolls-Royce Owners Club is good at what you can and cannot do to modernize your car. If something improves the safety and/or driveability of the car, it most likely will be ok at concours as long as it's tastefully done.

My 1939 Phantom-III now has blinking turn signals in the front driving lights (we put in dual filament bulbs) and in add-on 1950s vintage D-lights that look the period. That is fine and encouraged, but if I'd put on big trailer lights that would have dinged me. I've added seat belts and that is fine. I added a high third brake light and also used those rear D-lights to add brake lights to add on to the one amber brake light that came with the car originally. All that is fine. Even the electronic ignition, since it is completely hidden, is fine.

Not sure what FCA allows, but RROC is pretty good, I think.

You just don’t understand the concours market.  Whole different type of “enthusiast”.  Whole industry set up to cater to their wants and needs, too.

Concours should loosen up these requirements.

I get the originality aspect (although slightly yawn inducing, admittedly), but now you're encouraging 30 and 40 year old tire use on these cars and owners can't separate the two more often than not.

Interesting idea but most owners of classic cars want the originals for a concours. If these new-old releases meet the criteria for concours judging then that is great.

If they don't, I'm not sure what will be accomplished.

There are plenty of new tires that fit the old cars within reason. The Michelin TB series and Pirelly P7 Corsa Classic already fill the need for a modern tire in the classic sizes.

It could be a good revenue opportunity though.

The early Porsches tended to use small-ish sized tires, but maybe the '70s/'80s era Ferraris could benefit (?).

If there's one thing I hate, is when guys put enormous wheels on older cars. It looks so out-of-character:

Porsche teams up with Pirelli to design modern tires with vintage look for classic models.
