I disagree
Enthusiasts for the most part have real jobs
They actually work for a living and have mortgages etc.
And don't have deep pockets like speculators do
So they spend there money wisely
And they know the product
Hence less is spent because they don't have it
The specs can afford to take the risks an drive the market crazy
These are the people who show up at pebble beach the breakers and the like with the dumb blonde on the arm ( oh look its grandfathers day)
They have 7 figure money to throw around but for the most part are clueless on what
They are buying
They believe the hype in CAV and the shit yellow rag FML ( the Ferrari version of the financial crisis, I mean really ASKING PRICE INDEX? Please)
The Pcar market went thru this years back with the SLOPE NOSE CRAZE remember?
And look at the 356 market, it just shows you how dumb people can be with deep pockets.

Got to go

I picked up on this insight a few weeks ago in an interview with Simon Kidston.

Some are heralding the ‘return of the enthusiasts’ to the market. Do you think this is the case?

The fact of the matter is that enthusiasts spend less money. They might be nicer to deal with, but those who are buying for pleasure and not for profit simply don’t spend as much. We all like to think it would be idyllic if the market was populated with dyed-in-the-wool enthusiasts and not the new breed of ‘specollectors’, but cars wouldn’t be worth what they are now if people weren’t buying them to make a profit. Ultimately, this benefits everyone in the industry and the way cars are cared for. It’s an evolution we have to accept, although most of our clients still ask for cars they can drive and enjoy as their first criteria.

Enthusiasts aren't the market drivers right now and those that have the inventory have adjusted their sales practices accordingly.

you find yourself in essence "forced" to buy Lamborghinis? :)

According to Sergio Marchionne, this is a primary reason why people buy Lamborghinis...

A bunch of hardcore Lambo guys I know are so put off by all of these terrible experiences that they wanted to give Ferrari a fair chance but they just couldn't do it.

Curious to hear how some of you braved it out....
