I agree
It was an old un maintained airplane that most likely had metal fatigue
Where the cockpit joined the fuselage
I saw a Delta 757 with that type of damage years back at FLL
Very hard landing that sheared the cockpit away from the fuselage but it didn’t come apart!
Check airman was flying the plane !
They cut the plane up and sold it for scrap

Finally had a chance to look at this on something bigger than my phone.   Odd that the fuselage broke at the leading edge of the wing.... but it broke UP and not DOWN like you normally see with a hard nose wheel hit.  Metal fatigue?  Nose wheel dug in?

Back to cars.... sorta.... ok, not.     Jackie Stewart's son, Mark, is a producer on a new (2018) documentary on the Spitfire.   Much of the footage focuses on first hand accounts from those who flew the Spitfire.  I knew there were a lot of variants on the Spits, just had no clue just how many.   If you like that sort of thing (Keegan), it's available on Amazon Prime.  It's called "Spitfire"

Looks like he just didn't have the runway because of the vis and conditions, didn't round out, and hit at 750-1000 fpm rate of descent.  He hit at 7G instantaneous which would have put the landing gear up through the wings, but, the whole cockpit broke off at impact which was probably merciful in this situation!

Nice glide slope for a carrier landing....   oh wait.

Guess this means it’s NOT an all weather bomber.
