Last year  I had the paint on my 599 corrected and then clear wrapped.  Looks great and because full panels wrapped, no obvious seams.  Then took the car to Tasmania for the Targa Tasmania rally and got a few stone hits here and there but the paint underneath is ok.  If the blemishes in the clear wrap get too bad, I can replace a sheet.

I have one on my 308 and had one on the Tesla. To do things right is a bit pricey but especially with a black car I think you'll be exceptionally happy in the long-term if you do it right. Like you, I'm not a wax weekly type guy, but I do appreciate the car looking great at all times.

I recommend getting a good professional paint correction on the car. Whatever the paint is like when you put it on is then locked in. Also, I recommend having someone professional put the film on and make sure they wrap around edges so you don't even see the film lines. I hate seeing the jobs where only the front half of the hood is covered.
