I LOVE the clear bra. I put it on my 2006 truck when it was new. 330,000 miles later and there’s only one mark on it where a stone hit perfectly at a bra seam. I did replace the film after 8 years when it started to discolor and crack, but that truck is an “always outside” daily driver. On a garaged fun car the film will last longer than you, probably.

 

Must be done professionally – it’s an art, especially properly wrapping the seams and getting them to adhere properly. As Matt suggested, do full body panels – almost no one does the halfway treatments as you then see the edges, especially on a black car. Any reputable installer will include a paint correction on the treated panels anyway, since as Matt noted, you’re stuck with anything under the film once it’s on.

 

“Full Frontal” is common – nose, hood, front fenders, mirrors. Usually around $1,300 here. On a couple of my cars (Aston, Cadillac, Corvette) I did the entire car. A good bit more expensive, but no worries about door marks, luggage marks, etc. In the case of my Corvette, which is a dedicated track car, it makes the marks from rubber pieces easier to remove. And as Grahame noted, if something gets messed up, it’s cheaper to replace the film than to strip and repaint.
