Clyde notes “. . . it’s a check engine light . . .”

Damn OBDII watching your every move.  There are thousands of codes.  Most common “P” code is loose or poor sealing gas cap.

It’s a two trip code.  Meaning that it takes two “trips” as defined by OBD II to set the code AND two trips to clear it.

So it may not be the end of the line.

A “Trip” is loosely defined as vehicle operation including a startup, warm up, run time, and shutdown that allows the OBE II PCM (power train control monitor – the term replaces ECU) to run one or more monitors.  There are generally 11 monitors.  Some will never set - ?  OBD II isn’t just the engine with “P” codes – it also covers B codes for body, C codes for chassis, and U codes for network.

Network?  Yeah, like a seat belt code that even if you’re all snapped in – the PCM aint receiving notice and it throws a code.  Your seat could be throwing a code - ?

Get a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) reader thing (highly technical term).  Remember – DTC’s even if discovered won’t tell you THE problem.  OBD II is like a thermometer that shows a patients temperature is 104 – yeah he’s sick, but why?  What caused it?

Black tape over the CEL will give you miles of trouble free driving –

Cheers

DOUG

Subject: [Ferrari] My first check engine light on the 575

Well it finally happened

Knew it would, got a master caution light( sorry guys to you it’s a check engine light, still too much aviator in me) yesterday

Nothing I could figure out

Will take it in get it cleared and move on

Seat stopped working again

Then it did !

You know the Brits they say it works ( not so sure about BREXIT though) so I want to see it for myself

When I get it I will report back on it, since it looks as if the 575 is a moody beast when it comes to check engine lights

And if it is as advertised I will do what I’ve done with the shim kit

If a lister needs it they pay shipping both ways

I was thinking if Ferrari would have put just a little more into the workmanship of the hoses and electrical system none of this stuff would happen.

I mean look at Japanese cars and German cars, it’s seems as if the Italians just under engineer the cars or just source parts from horrible suppliers

But in retrospect they know that they will sell everything they make so why bother in making it durable, it’s a win for the dealership service department

The new NSX has everything yet they can’t sell them, they are deeply discounted with a finance plan to die for! My friend just bought one.

And you know that car will always work with no issues whatsoever

Well guys as I’ve always said it is what it is, will report back on the check engine light issue. Not worried, I know it’s just a light and the car runs fine.

Too my fellow warriors out there, have a safe Memorial Day

Fly fast N’ Check 6

Push it up lead !

And if you see a former or active duty service member, thank them for what they do.
