They took the middle ground with the tranny.  It's not a true auto -
no torque converter.  It's a dual clutch 8 speed.

So: true manual - out.  True auto - out.  But shifts are said to be
instantaneous enough that acceleration feels constant, and the shifts
are "invisible on a 100 hertz data logger" - according to Alex
MacDonald, an engineer on the project.

All the cars are now dry sump.  All service is done with engine in place
