Clyde-

We started it by popping 308 and TR hoods at the track.

Nobody did it before.

Modern cars with modern emissions equip run much hotter than our vintage cars.

A really fast driver will heat up any modern car at a summer track event.

Hood up is a must for anything.

Even if you are slow, it still looks cool to pop the hood like the really fast drivers.

I hope you are right about turning the electronics off.

Finally a new performance car that could kill you if your skills are off.

Fingers crossed...

They didn’t put 3 radiators in the car for nothing
All the modern day cars are thermally challenged from the Ferrari 355 going forward
The last Ferrari that had North Africa type cooling systems were the 308/328 they had real radiators
Lamborghini and the gay shoe box are the worst (read McClaren sic), and don’t leave out the NSX and the GTR as well
Down here in the south it’s a different kettle of fish with regards to heat and humidity
As for the modern day vettes not overheating
I bet when they pit they open the hood and leave the key on for the fans to work!
My guess is the coolant over flow tank in a Vette is as big as the gas tank !

It will be fun to get the first YouTube video of the new Vette driver losing control and totaling the plastic mid engine GM wonder car
No doubt it will be some PRO FROM DOVER disabling all the stuff to keep you safe.

If only cars were self cleansing like aviation!

Clyde, save your money.

Only the early C7 Z06s had heat problems.

Later ones are fine.

C7 ZR1s are fine.

C7 Grand Sports are fine (and one of the best handling sports cars at any price).

C6 ZR1s are fine.

New car will be a monster in typical GM fashion.

Ferrari will be very smart to buy technology from it like they have done before.

Forget about stop and go traffic in the south in the summer

They took the middle ground with the tranny.  It's not a true auto -
no torque converter.  It's a dual clutch 8 speed.

So: true manual - out.  True auto - out.  But shifts are said to be
instantaneous enough that acceleration feels constant, and the shifts
are "invisible on a 100 hertz data logger" - according to Alex
MacDonald, an engineer on the project.

All the cars are now dry sump.  All service is done with engine in place

I am not a Corvette fan but the performance value has been unbeatable over
the last 20 years and they stepped up their game with the C8. They may take
a bite of some  Porsche sales as this is less than Boxter or Cayman money
but so is the current C7.
They have eliminated the manual gearbox so the C7 manuals will be strong
value holders for the next few years.

Uh, yeah.  Kind of has a familiar look about it.....

Car and Driver:  $60k.  sub 3 second 0-60.  495hp in the base model.

At that price point, it should be a big seller.  The current C7 model
is very popular, I see them everywhere.  Much more common than the C6
or C5 ever were.
