Here's the license plate that Jim had on the car.

at Symbolic Motor Cars - Ferrari 003
Please be careful when citing serial numbers of these first cars.
Generally accepted is that #1 and #2 are 1C (or 01C) and 2C (or
02C). The generally accepted story is that each of these were recycled
by Ferrari in 010 and 020 in what should be 1948.
There is some dispute if 3C ever existed.
002I (Jim G. has provided photo evidence that is is "I" not "C").
If no 3C then this is the 3 Ferrari.
There is no serial number marking on 002I's engine, all it has is
"159".
The book La Nascita apparently details 1947 with even the factory's
individual race reports from which one could trace these earliest cars
details. Unfortunately I do not have a copy of the book.
Not sure if we are talking about the same model of car,
but a guy in Vancouver WA has #004C. His father bought it for a
pittance in the '60s. Did a beautiful restoration on it.
Jim
Glickenhaus has 002C, but some/many argue that it's not near the car that
004C is. Seems in a restoration it "borrowed" quite a few parts
from other cars of the era.
#004C has an interesting engine
history. Apparently the first V12 was used mostly for dyno
testing. An "ear" where a motor mount attached broke off.
#002C got the 2nd motor built. But they welded up that broken "ear"
and that motor is in #004C. The engine numbers support this, as the
number on 004C is one behind that in 002C. The owner of 004C has a
vintage photo of that "dyno" motor with the broken
engine mount.
