You'd probably only see a miniscule amount difference on a dyno.
I've been using the Baldwin PA2098 paper filter on my GT4 for years. I get it along with my oil filters from my local Peterbilt dealer (right across the street from where I work).
Even the race cars had wire mesh screens brazed onto the velocity stacks to keep rocks and birds out.

with cars with carburetors versus computer-controlled fuel injected engines? There must be a reason
Ferrari left the air cleaners off the old race cars? I do have an open mind and I would switch back
Instantly if I thought it was better. I know the car sounds a lot better with it…

I recall in testing I was involved in on BMW M30 6 cylinder engines the K&N drop is filters were awful in every respect. They had a fraction of the surface area of the MANN or other OEM equivalent and once they got a bit dirty restricted airflow to the point where the engine would stumble on part throttle acceleration. They were great when clean as far as airflow but the reduced area made the inefficient once they got slightly dirty and on a street engine, I would rather have the filtration over a few CFM of airflow and have to clean the filter every month.
