Thanks. My truck – which is from the same era – has rear-wheel anti-lock brakes and can be tricky to bleed. There is an additional valve set-up below the master cylinder that is controlled by the anti-lock brake computer. It’s finicky to get to the bleeder and operate.

 

I haven’t popped the cover off yet but in the front compartment of my Mondial, the drawing in the manual shows a rather complex pump and valving mechanism hiding underneath.

When I replaced all of the brake lines on my 308 (tubing and hoses), even with regular flushing/bleeding, the amount of residue that came out of the old lines, once removed from the car, was quite surprising. Even the insides of the calipers were quite gunky. The brake failure warning switch was probably the worst in respect to a build up of gunk and more than likely the reason why it failed (replaced with a Volvo unit).

 

Any special procedures dealing with an ABS system? I’m concerned about doing this with my Mondial.

Just did a brake flush on the 575.

It was a major job, the outer parts of the caliper were clogged and required me use suction to clear the blockage.

This was the first time I had experienced this type of issue.

For a while there I was thinking of removing the crossover tube which was causing the issue.
