Years ago I have seen my fair share of 308 GT/4's and there was none without rust unless they were seriously refinished. The underside and areas of the front frame to body point of these when built were barely primed/painted, never mind any rust prevention and as it was not uncommon to see spots left bare when manufactured. They have likely all had rust repair and resprays regardless of how well kept, but as Doug mentioned that was par for the course in that era with most vehicles. Example being that when my father first opened his shop in 1976, he did a nut and bolt restoration on a 1963 E-Type Jaguar as at 12 years old there was significant rust and original finishes were long gone.

"rust repair"? "Rust Repair"? "RUST REPAIR"?
In the 1970's, and earlier, Ferrari consider the first frame coating to be
 hydrous ferric oxides.
 Or . . . . rust.
(sigh) as witnessed by stacks of frames in the yard.
On the other hand - those may have been rejects and on the way to the
 grinderupper. ??

In the commentary it was said that the respray was in association with rust
 repair.
