Re: Twin-Turbocharged 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole for sale on BaT Auctions - ending December 22 (Lot #62, 108) | Bring a Trailer

I had a 2007 911 (997) twin turbo for four years and it was a really fun ride.  Sold it last year and bought
an F430, which has very similiar performance specs.

I do prefer the linear power delivery Ferrari.

Yep.

We’re playing around with my 931 right now, the build specifies oil squirters.  But then again, I’m using some of the tricks that were already developed at Alpina and another company that shall go nameless for now; not taking it to full Carerra GTR spec, but it’s not going to be slow.  And should piss off the Porsche purists. Win win in my book.

True, but both it and the 288 GTO that came before had detail differences that made them more reliable. One key modification were oil sprayers to cool the undersides of the pistons (there were two rails that ran down both sides of the block edge and had little nozzles pointing up. They’d spray a fine mist of engine oil to cool the pistons. I don’t see or know of any tuner shop that adds this to turbo builds). Mind you, in some high boost mods, tuners will coat piston tops with some sort of ceramic coating for heat shielding.

Not my cup of tea. I’d rather have the GTO or the F40. Or this:

It has been done - the F40 engine is based on the 308 block.  Not the least expensive path for sure.

Bowed in?  Where?  What picture?  I’d like to learn something. I don’t recall our ‘78 has any bowing.  Maybe so.

Thanks Anthony
