I know of 3 ventilated blocks that had Norwood systems.
All 3 are back on the road today, sans turbos.

Abuse is a relative term, but I'll agree the transaxles will take a bit of punishment, the twill gears... not so much.

No experience with the Koenig setups but the Norwood ones are aging well.

A modern single turbo would be a lighter and less complicated solution with minimal lag.
