Hi Lash, We will be moving the cars to CO to sort them out, and participate in one local race. Then, taking them to CA since there are many more available races in the Buttonwillow/Laguna Seca/Sonoma/Thunderhill CA circuit. Thus the tow vehicle will be moving the cars from CO to CA once, then up/down the mind numbingly boring I-5 corridor for the forseeable future, with a race approximately once per month and travel distances anywhere from 200-800 miles. We anticipate building the trailer out to house the cars/tires/racing stuff, and provide a small “camper” section (sink/toilet/shower/stove/refridge, etc) along with workbench/tool space. The estimated weight would be: 4100(trailer) + 3000(cars) + 300(lift) + 500(tires/stuff) + 1200(cabinets/80gal water, etc) = approx. 9,100 weight….. The original thought was a 24ft trailer(10,000GVWR) with stacker car lift, however it may prove problematic finding an 8ft interior height trailer thus we may have to go to a longer trailer(32+ft and load them flat sequentially). With this new information, a diesel Silverado 2500 gooseneck seems a good choice to kill time on the mind numbing I-5 J This is all hypothetical right now, and we are completely open to new ideas. Thanks for the interest! Mark From: LSJ [mailto:lashdeep [at] yahoo.com] Mark, do you have a scope or mission statement for the entire project? Maybe a list of items you will want or need in the trailer and then a schedule of events? I average approx. 1,000 miles towing each month with a variety of trailers. There is quite a range in the "towing spectrum". The low end is just getting from point A to point B without loss of life or property. The other end of the spectrum is towing up a hill in the Rockies at 85-90mph while listening to Van Halen in climate controlled comfort. I have not pickup experience and am looking for on the road comfort in addition to reliability and towing capacity. Mark From: Lashdeep Singh [mailto:lashdeep [at] yahoo.com] Fun project and goal! Assume you have a tow vehicle already? That will dictate a lot of your trailer design as it is a vital component of your transport system.
