Remember a few months ago my mechanic said he’ll need to take the engine out to change the outer bearing (because it was moving about 1/8”) and some of you said it can be done without taking the engine out. My second mechanic tried and tried but just could not separate the cover from the engine. All the bolts were out, the oil pan was off but that cover was stuck solid and he gave up after trying every which way. He was too afraid to break something. So, he decided to take the bearing out of there with the cover on. It worked. Now, the new bearing is at the border waiting for clearance and he is confident he’ll put that new bearing in with the cover on.
