I was a new Flight Commander at Misawa and I had one of my WSOs killed in a MB ground ejection.  I was having a Flight meeting and we heard a bang.  We looked out the window and saw a chute and thought that he might have made it.  It was the chute that separates the seat however.  He was on a test flight where they pulled some negative Gs and his Flash light got up into the Banana Links in the back seat.  It was a cold day and unfortunately he unstrapped during the taxi back.  When opened the back canopy and it crushed the Banana Links and the seat fired.

You know the banana links were always an issue especially with FOD

You had to remember to remove all you pencils from your suit prior to ACM

I will take a picture of the links for the list

Make sure that all you pins/sears are in and the Banana Links are clear before you sit in it Clyde!!!

It’s a functioning seat minus the rocket motors and O2 bottles 

The parachute is right behind you 

You attach yourself to it with a harness along with wearing a horse collar life vest
