Fair point, and my previous comment not withstanding, crashing on the formation lap of your F1 debut has got to be demoralizing and ego-crushing.
Frankly, I don't recall either Hakkinen's or Sainz's situations. And for good or bad, better or worse, like it or not - I'm still very impressed with A. Hamilton's behavior with the young kid. No one else did that for him.
I remember an interview 2 or 3 DECADES ago with a driver (which one, I've now forgotten) who said that, while coming up through the karting ranks, every time it rained, he was out there pounding around the track, learning that wet weather car control. I hope
this kid gets a similar opportunity, and even if he never becomes another Senna, Schumacher, Prost, Mansell, Hamilton, or Verstappen, that he's able to make a respectable recovery from this lousy start so he won't be remembered just for this.
