Interesting. Makes more sense now. When Kalifornia went to the 7 digit
plate, the most coveted plate was, alas, PORSCHE. A drawing was held and
the fellow who won it - - - was a young fellow who owned a Toyota pick up
truck. When interviewed he said something like - well, some day I really do
hope to own a Porsche. Years later, the plate ended up on Cheryl Dunkels
Porsche 4 cam 356 Carrera. Oh, for Ferrari content, Cheryl also has/had a
white 512 TR.

Several things. In the UK these are what we would call vanity plates in the States. In the UK you cannot specify what is on the plate other than going through a broker. Also, they have to have the standard nomenclature as on the link that Francis sent earlier. Therefore, if I wanted a plate that said "RICK" I would have to find a broker or person that had something similar, like "R1CK". Others could be something like a 1989 F-Reg "F328GTS" if you were a 328 owner. First you would have to find who owns this plate and then buy it from them.
