Re: No Ferrari Content NFC - Business Banking Question

Just spent a frustrating 10 minutes on the phone with my bank. I think it's time to change banks. They said in every possible combinations of words that it would be my decision to provide someone with my acct numbers - and the bank would have no responsibility about what happens. I said everyone who I write a check to has the same info. They said the person getting the check wouldn't know they were getting bank acct info as it could be a different kind of check such as a credit card check for instance. What BS.

Sounds crazy to me - all I wanted was a confirmation that no one could withdraw funds if they had my bank rounting and acct number. I believe Brian but wanted to hear the bank say the same thing.

Just called the International Dept and they were a little more helpful. But, MAN! Those nitwits at the local branch were pissing me off! Sorry -

There is no way for anyone to remove money from your account with just your account number and ABA # (all that is needed for a wire). A money wire is actually safer than PayPal, etc., because even with PayPal they could use a stolen card and the money would be removed from your bank acct.

Howdy -
I have a potential customer in Croatia whose credit card was declined. He asked for my bank info so he could do a transfer but I am nervous about providing that kind of info. Instead I suggested he use PayPal and deposit the needed funds into my PP acct. - which I have never had trouble with.

Was that reasonable or is there *no* danger in providing bank acct. info to strangers? I hear so much about scams I guess I'm gun-shy. I know very little about bank transfers but I would think since the info is readily available on the bottom of my checks the danger would be minimal - but crooks are so ingenius these days.

   Am I being too cautious?

TIA -
