Letters of credit mean nothing, and nobody can remove money form your
account with a demand letter unless you authorize it. If you want ot be
completely safe have your bank call their bank and initiate the wire
that way. Then nobody other than a bank has your info. a wire is still
be far the safest way to receive money. Although they CAN be reversed,
even though banks say they can't. Have had it happen to me.

Larry,
If I remember correctly (and that's a BIG "if"), get a Letter of
Credit from his bank. I think that's one of the ways we used to do it back
in the '80s and early '90s when I was working in the International Dept. at
Cooper Aviation Supply Co. Or, alternatively, call your bank and ask for the
appropriate person in their International Dept. Even if that's not what
they call it, you should end up talking to someone who deals with
International payments on a somewhat regular basis, and, what with it being
Your bank and all, they should be able to advise you on a safe payment
method from your Croatian customer.

declined.Be wary of Paypal. Sorry I can't answer the banking question.
Paypal took back a sizable amount of money from me two months after I received it. Of course I did not have enough money in my Paypal account so they just took it from my bank account/credit card. Apparently the monies I received from their paypal account was funded with a stolen credit card. So Paypal's policy is the legit user gets hosed out of goods AND money.
Use an insured method for international trade if the $ amount makes you sweat. I've never used one, only heard about them.

Howdy -
I have a potential customer in Croatia whose credit card was

Was that reasonable or is there *no* danger in providing bank acct.
veryto strangers? I hear so much about scams I guess I'm gun-shy. I know
http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/jason%40internethosting.comlittle about bank transfers but I would think since the info is readily available on the bottom of my checks the danger would be minimal - but crooks are so ingenius these days.
Am I being too cautious?
