Jim -

That's not it. I'm having the same problem you are. Happens on my IE6 machine at work, but did not happen at home with either IE6 or 7. I know why it's happening (any time a program moves a web browser window or opens a new web browser window in a different spot), McAfee complains that the registry is changing, but the registry is just tracking where to open the web browser next time.

It's harmless, so you can continue to click Allow, but I, like you, would certainly like to know how to shut it off. That damned bell sound is getting really irritating.

You probably got the IE7 update in your last auto update of your system. I
suspect that enough changed there over IE6 that McAfee needs to be updated
as well, or the IE registry guard turned off. Alternatively, you should be
able to uninstall the IE7 portion of the update and go back to IE6. I
wouldn't recommend that--IE7 is pretty good, IMO of course.

I don't use any of that spyware/malware/adware auto detection shit. I run
as a plain user w/o administrative privileges, except when I have to in
order to install/uninstall software or otherwise modify the system. This
works way better than a piecemeal solution.

YMMV.

Gang,

I'm CONSTANTLY getting the following error message from McAfee which
started shortly after the last upgrade....I've googled it and searched
their site and nothing. Can anyone give advice as to what it is? I keep
blocking the change, but its getting annoying because its popping up quite
often. Computer has been scanned and no apparent viruses.

TIA,

JIM
