Hello Rick - Yer right on. Airplane guys are like true car guys - doesn't
matter what they fly, model after or follow, a true airplane guy LOVES all
airplanes - just 'cuse. And best yet, they APPRECIATE well done things that
go in the air.
A few days ago it was Dec 7th. In 1941 Dad was stationed at Sacramento Air Depot at McClellan Field (I think that's what it was called). Lo and behold, at Pearl Harbor, several Japanese attack craft were shot down. The pieces were picked up and shipped state side for analysis. When that was finished - on the scrap heap with the junk aluminum. Dad snatched a few pieces and shipped them home to his folks.
I have them now. A chunk of Zero wing tip spar from the main spar right at the folding hinge. About 3 feet long. VERY interesting. Yes - verry very interesting. One hole about the size of a 50 cal - - - but who knows. There is more to that part than the aluminum.
