I could infer from the context of your posting a potential meaning but its better just to ask, even if it makes one appear ignorant. I do get out some, but as the resident scientist/recluse probably not as much as an airline pilot, though I don't really miss the old job and the 150 +/- days on the road. My dog actually knows me now when I come through the door. As for magazines, I guess I read as many as most, though not a significant number of automotive ones. I guess it may just be an ingrained prejudice against Japanese cars, though Audrey does drive one. They just seem uninspired and have a "cookie cutter" appearance, though I'm sure that contributes to their reliability. I just prefer the old gentleman's club approach of some of the European cars to the technocrat approach of the Japanese. Perhaps that is why I became bored with MB's. No doubt the Japanese can produce high quality automobiles, as they have done with cameras and electronics, and if I were just driving long distances on a daily basis something such as a Q-45 sedan might be a good deal for me, it is just that off of the ranch cars are either a business transportation issue or they are a hobby for fun, this allowing me the opportunity to leave "pure rationality" behind. Business transportation requires something like the Excursion, and neither the Japanese, nor the Europeans (nor Ford I guess anymore) have a comparable vehicle in that class.
