Kind of make you wonder what is going to happen to these cars in the years to come. Will a NOS Marelli control unit for the F1 gearbox be a good investment? In 20+ years, how are they going to be serviced, or will the just become disposable? Imagine a 328 GTS with all of that to potentially go wrong, what would it be worth now, as who would want to deal with it? No self service possible, and the prohibitive expense of ownership will make them worthless and/or disposable, not to mention how long with the parts be available. Who is going to stock the exotic 599 shock absorbers in 20 years?

Sad. All that electro-hydraulic hardware and plumbing on the F1
shifter just has to be a maintenance problem at some point down the
line. The good news would seem to be that the rarity of a manual box
might enhance your 430's future value. I want a ride, btw.

It seems to be working the same in Bimmerworld: the dealers abhor
taking a manual car on spec- they have to be ordered. Otoh the
relative rarity of the six speed and the fact that most wind up in
the hands of nutcases like me, who won't part with them, makes used
six speeds very hard to find.

Half the fun of the damn car is double clutching, or going heel & toe
down a twisting road at multiples of the "Safety Sam" sign
recommendations. Or dropping from sixth to fourth to suck the doors
off battered Subaru Wagons full of Killer Dykes on InterState 5.

 Slow
To 15!

I don't think so, Scooter!

Manual 6-speed shifters are indeed available, but STRONGLY

I've been waiting for an F430 for years, and have been told that if
I had
been willing to take an F1, I would have had it months ago. No
thanks.
Manuals are definitely limited to ~10% of total production. Don't
know why
(by contract with Magneti Marelli?).
