Ah, but Brian, I was talking new cars, if we are talking used cars then lots
of people would chime in with their favorite used car including some older
Ferraris.

Interesting comparison. A base Corvette to the Shelby GT500.

Ford's website is very nice but it is lacking in performance figures.

Personally the mystique of the Shelby name and the 500hp figure would win me
over in an instant. But, I do admit that the Mustang weighs quite a bit
more (750lbs more or less). But the Mustang is slightly wider and longer.
And I personally find live rear axle cars just a blast to drive and play
with.

Under the Corvette website from GM it will actually let you do a comparison
of the base model Corvette and the Shelby GT500 (see below) Many of the
Shelby's fields say "Being Researched". I bet they are researching it!
But, there is one field for the Corvette that says "Being Researched". They
really don't know what the ground clearance of the Corvette is?

And GM is saying that the Shelby is cheaper than Ford says it costs.

Dave,

Check your numbers - a stock C6 Corvette is faster than a GT500 0-60 and

1/4 mile. A Vette is about $10K more, but buy a used 2005/2006 and let

someone else take the $10K difference and you still get warranty! Plus,

the new Vettes are made 10X better than Ford could ever think of. And

$41K for a solid rear axle car?
