As I'm sure Brian is pointing out as I write this, the 1988.5 328 did *NOT*
have ABS. They did have the exceptionally ugly convex wheels and modified
suspension needed to introduce ABS, but ABS itself was not added until the
1989 model year (like that surprises anyone with Ferrari experience). "Hey,
Luigi, we used up all of the traditional concave wheels, but we're not done
with '88 MY production yet. Should we order more?" "Nah, Vincenzo, just
open up that box of new concave wheels. We had to order a few gross of them
anyway, for just one model year, so we may as well use them up...."

Also, keep in mind that the 328 ABS system is relatively primitive.
Remember, modern ABS is now up to, what, 7th generation? 12th generation?
ABS has been around for more than 20 years, and has improved dramatically
(as has computer power, cycle times, etc.)

So, yes, it's better than nothing (far better), but still not as good as
more modern systems.

And re tire usage in non-ABS cars... Dude, learn how to better use your
right foot! :-)

I strongly prefer ABS. I laugh at the "purists" who insist that driving
non-ABS cars make them, um, more pure drivers. Sure. Whatever. I just
give them a friendly wave as I dive past them in the braking zone! :-)

Vty,

I am a big fan of non-abs cars. I like the pedal feel. HOWEVER, when I
finally tracked and autocrossed an ABS equipped car, my tires were lasting
much longer. A set of r-compound tires would only last me a month on a
non-abs car. They tend to go "square" with my aggressive driving. On my
autocross vehicle, I actually got three months out of a set that usually
only lasted a month. Same vehicle model but different year which had the
ABS available. Now my question goes to those that have owned or driven
both types of F cars. As
far as particular model, the 328. Now I am not talking about you sissies
out there who only cruise and have never been on the other side of the pit
wall. I want an opinion of those who have tracked their cars. Tires are
expensive and non-renewable. I would spend $600 a month back in the day on
tires on a non-abs car. I am looking at a 328 but I might consider a later
year for the abs. Before you try and sell me Brian, I have spoken to the
owner of the car you have on consignment (88.5). There are cheaper ones
being earlier and non-abs equipped. I am just trying do research and see
if it's worth the extra money besides the other benefits of a later model.
The one you have would be one I would consider knowing it's service
history.

Thanks.
