Yes, perceptions are funny things. When I had my '78 308gt4 ('Mario') and
was looking for work in Arizona, one of the jobs I was "interviewing" for
was a paper route delivery. I was standing on the loading dock with a bunch
of other people, waiting for my "ride" to show up, and I joked "Gee, I'll
bet it would be a bad idea to show up here to deliver on those
(rocky/dusty/bumpy roads) in my Ferrari, huh?" Well, you could just SEE the
tension in the air and the silence, just like that old commercial ..."and
E.F. Hutton says..." and then I said "yeah, like I've got a Ferrari..." and
then everything switched back to the way it was. So, I found out with that
and other circustances, that people expect a certain something when they
meet a Ferrari owner. It's the price you pay for driving something you
love, I guess. Either you care to a certain degree or not, but people will
judge, nontheless.
Just enjoy,
Tom Reynolds
