Subject: Re: [Ferrari] of Ferrari's and dresssing well.... Hey Tom: If the paper was 'The Arizona Daily Star,' (aka: The Red Star) and you showed up in a red Ferrari Dino GT, you were lucky not to have been shot on sight. After I 'retired,' the TNI security dept. was issued orders that if I showed up, to shoot, ask questions and call the police later. Something about 'someone' wiring a smoke bomb to the ignition in the publisher's car. And if the loading dock was at our plant at Park and Irvington in Tucson, chances are you were interviewed by a tall dark haired German woman named Siglinde, who we all called 'von Knobber' for one of her other well known talents she used in the parking lot at night. Ach, she could make 'der muttersprech' (mother tongue) sing! Yes, perceptions are funny things. When I had my '78 308gt4 ('Mario') and was looking for work in Arizona, one of the jobs I was "interviewing" for was a paper route delivery. I was standing on the loading dock with a bunch of other people, waiting for my "ride" to show up, and I joked "Gee, I'll bet it would be a bad idea to show up here to deliver on those (rocky/dusty/bumpy roads) in my Ferrari, huh?" Well, you could just SEE the tension in the air and the silence, just like that old commercial ..."and E.F. Hutton says..." and then I said "yeah, like I've got a Ferrari..." and then everything switched back to the way it was. So, I found out with that and other circustances, that people expect a certain something when they meet a Ferrari owner. It's the price you pay for driving something you love, I guess. Either you care to a certain degree or not, but people will judge, nontheless. Just enjoy, Tom Reynolds Tulsa, OK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gavin" <gavinnz [at] xtra.co.nz> To: "Tom Reynolds" <kjtar [at] cox.net> Cc: "The FerrariList" <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> Sent: Saturday, February 24, 2007 11:47 PM Subject: Re: [Ferrari] of Ferrari's and dresssing well.... > > Gavin: > > Which Rolls Royce model do you drive? > I drive a 1970 2 tone series 1 Silver Shadow.... which is the era I like... > still chrome bumpers and simple as an axle compared to computer infested > cars of later years... one of the same reasons I wanted the carbed 308 > also.. fuel injection to me means "to modern!". lol > > I also love the simple lines of the early GTB...
